While summer winds to a close, our industry’s networking event schedule is just getting started with several September events worth adding to your calendar. There’s a lot going on in the transportation and logistics industry, starting with the Foreign Trade Zone No. 64 Seminar to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
I encourage you to attend, and not just because I’m personally organizing this event! FTZ regulation experts and current FTZ users will show you how to save time and money during the import/export process by taking advantage of the cost-saving benefits of the foreign trade zone program. Breakfast, lunch and, of course, invaluable info to help you grow your business are all included, so register today!
At our club’s next event, TCJAX’s Monthly Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 3, we will be joined by guest speaker Attorney Mike Williams, whose private practice in Jacksonville Beach represents transportation service providers and shippers. Mike is uniquely qualified, having recently received his certification from the UNF Transportation and Logistics program; he is also a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Transportation and Logistics Council, and the American Society for Transportation and Logistics. This will be a great opportunity to network with your fellow members, as well as hear about Mike’s climb through the ranks at his former trucking and broker operation.
If you’re up for a short road trip, the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) is offering TCJAX members $150 off the cost of attendance to the IANA Expo, September 20-22 in Fort Lauderdale. The Expo draws intermodal industry professionals from a variety of businesses, showcasing the industry’s products and services and examining its challenges. Its networking opportunities on the show floor and educational opportunities through a variety of informational sessions make it an essential event for the intermodal supply chain. To receive your $150 discount, use promo code TRAFFIC2015 when checking out at intermodalexpo.com.
And rounding out the eventful month is the 3rd Annual Jacksonville Women’s Leadership Symposium for Men and Women, which will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the downtown Jacksonville Public Library. Hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, in partnership with the U.S. Navy League Mayport Council, this free event will give you a chance to discuss the leadership issues that women face in the workplace today with both military and civilian leaders in the community. The sooner you RSVP, the better, as seating is limited.
I look forward to seeing you at our next TCJAX event!
