February 2017: Letter from the President

Fellow transportation and logistics professionals,

Bill DorazioI hope you’re enjoying success so far this year! The Transportation Club of Jacksonville (TCJAX) had another successful year in 2016. We are working hard to carry that momentum through 2017, and the Inaugural Dinner last month proved yet again to be one of our premier events to kick off the new year.

This event allows us to reflect on the success of the prior year, to thank the individuals who were instrumental in the club’s operations and events, and to introduce our new board members.

We’ve also begun our monthly meeting series, but beginning earlier this month, we moved our monthly meeting location to River City Brewing Company.

As you know, Jacksonville is a beautiful city as well as the logistics hub of Northeast Florida. In fact, Jacksonville’s nickname is “America’s Logistics Center”, due to its strengths in highway, rail, air, and maritime transportation.

One of the reasons we decided to switch our meeting location was to showcase our city’s beautiful skyline and the St. Johns River that is so important to our city’s economy, transportation identity and our quality of life. Another reason we’ve moved meetings to the Downtown Southbank is to make it easier for you to attend. We’ve heard the feedback that you prefer a more centralized location. No matter where your office is or where your customers are located, there isn’t a more convenient location than downtown.

We’re planning another year of industry leading speakers, and for the March meeting, we have award-winning author and entrepreneur John Chappelear prepared to help all of us be more productive and inspired in our daily work. Click here to purchase tickets to the March meeting.

Keeping with TCJAX tradition, we will continue to have our Spring and Fall Golf Outings as they are a great way to network and have a good time on the course with your fellow TCJAX members, co-workers and customers.

We will continue to update you as additional events are planned and more details become available.

One final thought: if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2017, please complete the application here at your earliest convenience. These annual memberships, which are only $50 per year, run from January 1st thru December 31st each year and help provide the funds that allow TCJAX to continue our support of UNF’s Transportation and Logistics Program and local charities including Feeding Northeast Florida and Harvest Time International.

I look forward to seeing you at our March meeting and the many events that we have planned for 2017!

Bill Dorazio
TCJAX President
