Children’s Safe Passage Announces 2022 Tournament Date

Jacksonville, Florida: Ten years ago today, Somer's Sunshine Park was dedicated by the Town of Orange Park, Florida - in memory of Somer Thompson, a victim of child sexual violence. Her tragedy sparked the creation of Children’s Safe Passage (CSP) in 2010 and continues to galvanize community support for the Somer Sunshine Scholarship at the Monique Burr Foundation for Children.

Children’s Safe Passage, along with host partner, Transportation Club of Jacksonville (TCJAX) are pleased to announce that the 12th Annual Children’s Safe Passage Charity Golf Event will take place on October 10th, 2022 at Queen’s Harbor Yacht & Country Club. AGX Freight has committed to be the title sponsor of the annual golf outing for the next 5 years.

Proceeds from this event are used to fund the Somer Sunshine Scholarship at the Monique Burr Foundation for Children to educate and protect children from all types of bullying, abuse and victimization. The 2021 tournament was record-breaking in both participation and fundraising, with more than $40,000 being added to the scholarship fund. The growth was due in large part to the tournament’s partnership with TCJAX, and its corporate members. All funds raised since the inception of Children’s Safe Passage’s first golf outing in 2010 have been put to work for the mission of preventing child sexual abuse through awareness initiatives and training for adults.

Corporate sponsorships and participation opportunities will be available beginning May 1, 2022. To sign up for updates and to learn more, please visit: Children’s Safe Passage Event Page.

About Children's Safe Passage

Children’s Safe Passage was formed in 2010 in response to the heartbreaking loss of Somer Thompson, a 7-year-old girl who was abducted and murdered by an adult sexual predator. For the past decade plus, CSP has been actively seeking solutions to prevent violence and sexual exploitation against children in the Northeast Florida community.
